The Sambuca historically takes its name from the elder flowers which, distilled along with the star anise, were among the ingredients used in the preparation of this liqueur. Despite using star anise, this is a typical liqueur and characteristic of Made in Italy. Zanin's Sambuca production begins in the early 1960-s.
