Information
This Premier Cru presents a robe with bright sparkles with violet reflections and shades of near-black. Pinot noir gives a highly colorful wine dominated by cherry stones, wild strawberries, black cherries and raspberries. A few spicy notes complete the bouquet. Its flesh is delicious, with a beautifully developed palate, and a concentrated, tasty structure. This wine has great longevity
At the table, it pairs perfectly with nice cuts of meat such as grilled or roasted lamb or tournedos. Its aromatic power balances out coq au vin, jugged rabbit, poultry curry, feathered game, not to mention cheese
Story
At the south of Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet offers the vines a slope with east-southeast exposure between Puligny, Montrachet and Santenay. This beautiful wide slope carries the two Burgundy varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to excellence, and enjoys the luxury of sometimes planting them side-by-side. Wines from this local appellation may include the name of their climate, and some of them are classified as Premier Cru. Morgeot is among the most renowned Premiers Crus. The vineyard shares its territory with that of Poligny, which includes the world’s most sought-after Grand Cru whites.
At between 220 and 325 meters in altitude, the terroirs vary depending on the climate (place names with special qualities), between lime and pebbly soils, marls or more sandy soils (Jurassic sediment). Large marble stone quarries form a rocky front: in Paris, the Trocadéro, and more recently, the Pyramids of the Louvre used slabs of this pink and beige stone.
