Winemaking
The favourable conditions at the beginning of the season led to budburst at the end of February, almost two weeks early. The very rainy month of March preceded a wet but warm spring, causing significant mildew pressure. The dry and warm conditions of mid-May favoured an ideal flowering, promising a good harvest. Summer conditions set in during the month of June, with a veraison that began at the end of July. The scorching hot temperatures of August led to significant water stress, and were counterbalanced by stormy days that were beneficial for the vineyard. While the Merlot developed quickly, Cabernet ripened later and retained a small grape size. The return to dry weather at the end of August allowed for the concentration of tannins and optimal ripening.
Story
A Classified Growth in the Official Classification of 1855, Château Palmer is a real star of the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of the Bordeaux region. With biodynamic viticulture launched in 2009, Château Palmer has chosen to convert the entire vineyard in 2014. Having built its legacy on vintages that have become legendary, Château Palmer continues to write its history under the direction of the talented Thomas Duroux.
