Information
The appearance is dark, with a deep ruby color. Its aromas evoke small red fruits (raspberry, strawberry, cherry) and black fruits (currants, blackberries), cinnamon, toasted bread. This Pinot Noir offers a full body which is generous, robust, sophisticated and fruity, firm and structured.
Its opulent character will accompany poached eggs in vigneronne sauce, a beef steak, grilled pork chops, or duck confit. Of course, cheeses like Livarot and Époisses are not to be forgotten.
Story
On the edge of Côtes de Nuits and of Beaune, the Montagne de Corton forms an amphitheater in which three villages are situated: Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses. The Aloxe-Corton AOC is a Villages de Côte de Beaune appellation that has existed since 1938. With a surface area of 255 hectares, this AOC produces 10,000 hectoliters of wines per year.
Like Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton (pronounced Alosse) benefits from its perfect location. The Mountain of Corton traces an exemplary geological bowl. Between 200 and 300 meters of altitude, the soils are reddish brown with many siliceous nodules, debris of flint limestone (“chaillots”), or “meubles“, rich in potassium and phosphoric acid. The vines are exposed to the east at sunset. In their entirety, the reds of Aloxe-Corton are powerful wines which are sophisticated and keep well. Blended beginning with Pinot Noir, their nose can wait for 5 to 10 years to open onto a firm and structured body with pleasant tannins.
