Information
This wine presents a nice appearance stitched with gold, brilliant and with a halo of green highlights. Its bouquet includes hawthorn, mature grapes, almond paste, hazelnuts, yellow-fleshed fruits, butter, and hot croissants. Its body and bouquet merge in a subtle harmony encompassing all its graces in an inflexible nature and a remarkable concentration.
At ease with a poultry in sauce just as it is with pan-fried veal with mushrooms, Puligny-Montrachet is remarkable with foie gras, lobster and spiny lobster, as well as grilled and pan-fried ocean fish. The cheese plate can be made up of Reblochon, Comté Fruité, Bleu, or Boulette d’Avesne.
Winemaking
The vineyards often occupy brown limestone lands, or even limestone alternating with ridges of marly clay-limestone which are sometimes deep, or even hard rock. The clay layers are quite thick higher up, more fine-grained lower down on the slope. These gravelly soils benefit from good drainage and are easy to heat.
Story
Puligny-Montrachet is located in Côte de Beaune, south of Meursault, in the department of Côte-d’Or, as well as in a part of the Hamlet of Blagny. Its name was first mentioned in 312 by the intermediary of a disciple of Eumenius, who wrote the first known description of the vineyard.
Its land is propitious for the production of white wines (98%). In fact, Puligny-Montrachet (pronounced Mont-Rachet) shares with Chassagne the most perfect expression of Chardonnay. Only a few meters from the Grands Crus, this AOC offers a white wine with an established personality and a high reputation.
