Information
glimmers ruby red with fresh aromas of red fruit such as strawberry, cherry and raspberry, and berry fruit like blackcurrant and blackberry. Smooth and delicately delicious in the mouth, it offers excellent persistence and silky tannins.
This delightfully fruity Burgundy will reveal its best expression with lightly aromatic dishes, or delicate white meats. It will marry well with cold cuts, poultry, rabbit, pasta or rice with tomato sauce, and stuffed vegetables. The exceptional sleekness of its tannins mean that real fans of red wine can even drink it with fish.
Story
« Coteaux », which means hillsides in French, is an allusion to the region’s gently rolling landscapes, but these wines can come from the region of Auxerre in southern Burgundy, from Chablis to Beaujeu, or any of the four departments of greater Burgundy: the Yonne, the Côte d’Or, the Saône et Loire and the Rhône. Created in 2011, Coteaux Bourguignon is a communal appellation, which means it can be produced across the whole of Burgundy. It enjoys an infinite variety of terroirs from the chalky bedrock around Joigny in the north, to the granite of the south of Burgundy, encompassing areas of limestone and marl for much of the appellation. It exists in all three colours, although over 90% of the wines are red, made from Gamay grapes which give these Coteaux Bourguignon their fruitiness.
